Gift for a Child is proud to announce the second annual AquaRun for a Child taking  place at Commencement Bay in Tacoma, Washington and this year consisting of three   (3) different events:

1. •2K Swim & 5K Run
   

2. •Swim Only: 2K or 4K
   

3. •Run Only: 5K
   

We welcome back returning triathletes as well as everyone else planning to participate in August for the first time. Last year during our second annual event 45 triathletes participated in this event to raise awareness about the needs of children in foster care. Thank you to our generous sponsors for helping to make this event a great success in 2012. We are expecting the 2012 event to be event better.

The AquaRun is an event from Gift for a Child to raise awareness about the needs of children in foster care. Our mission is to educate and mobilize athletes of all ages, individuals and the business community to run, swim or walk for a day to help foster youth overcome obstacles to achieving academic, life and career success.  Run, swim or walk with us Sunday, August 12, 2012 as we improve the lives of foster youth – One Lap and One Mile at a Time.

Les Davis Marine Park has great underwater sites at the swim finish on Ruston Way, along Old Tacoma's waterfront. The swim route features an artificial reef system that is made up from old blocks from the Galloping Gerdy Bridge. The swim course along the park has several large T-docks that provide the perfect viewing spot for the swim event. The race course from Les Davis Marine Park to Jack Hyde Beach Park has numerous popular restaurants that will be open near the end of the AquaRun, so we ask that all participants avoid parking in their lots.
